An OpportunityFor East Birmingham
The Sports Quarter will bring billions of pounds of investment into the area, providing much needed jobs and driving new economic growth in East Birmingham and across the region. We anticipate that the Sports Quarter will lead to*:
- 27,200 jobs during construction
- 14,400 full-time equivalent jobs once completed
We particularly want to support the futures of young people. That’s why we plan to open a Skills Academy and aim to ensure that 1 in 10 jobs created are entry-level or apprenticeships, preparing them for a lifetime of meaningful work.
We’re committed to working with local communities to create spaces and places they want to live, work and play.
The vision for the Sports Quarter will deliver:

Community spaces

Community sports and leisure facilities

Accessible green spaces

Improved streets, with walking and cycling routes

World-class professional sporting facilities

Culture and entertainment venues

Restaurants, shops and office spaces

New homes

Better transport links with a new train station and tram route
A message from
TOM WAGNER
Birmingham holds immense untapped potential.
A century ago, this city was at the centre of the UK’s economy – the city of a thousand trades. It now has the opportunity to be this country’s beating heart again. We want the Sports Quarter to be a driving force, helping to fuel that new era of growth and ambition.
Our plans will take Birmingham City FC to the next level. But the Sports Quarter is not just about football.
We are going to bring jobs, opportunities, new facilities, and a brighter future to the communities across our area.
The construction of the site will bring 27,200 jobs to East Birmingham, and we are aiming to ensure 10% of those jobs are entry level or apprenticeships, with a skills academy to ensure local people can get the training they need.
We will transform public spaces, provide venues for exciting events, and improve transport links between our communities and the rest of the city.
I look forward to us going on this journey together.
